The University of the East Red Warriors shoot for their first win, while the De La Salle University Green Archers will look for a more decisive victory when these two teams collide in the second of two UAAP men's seniors division basketball games, Thursday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. SEASON 74 HISTORY LESSON The UE Red Warriors were crushed by the NU Bulldogs in the first game of the season, 90-55, but things were actually competitive early, with UE on top, 15-13 after the first ten minutes. However, they gave up a 35-8 second quarter bomb that made it 48-23 in favor of NU at the break, and were never it in afterwards. The Red Warriors surrendered 28 fast break points to the Bulldogs and turned the ball over 21 times, which led to 22 easy NU points. And while the Archers under new head coach Gee Abanilla are no longer the press-happy team they were in the past, they'll surely take the opportunity to run on their foes if given an opening. La Salle on the other hand, will try to show that they can close out opponents, after needing to score the game's last six points to dispatch UP, 73-68. The Archers were up by 10, 56-46 with three quarters in the books, but a late UP run gave the Maroons a one-point lead, 68-67, courtesy of Alvin Padilla. In response, La Salle tightened up the defensive screws with under a minute remaining, to upend State U. Despite some poor shooting from outside (1-of-11) and from the line (18-27), DLSU still had more than enough firepower to put their opponents away. They'll still no doubt be looking to improve on their start by putting out a more well-rounded performance versus the Red Warriors. - AMD, GMA News UE projected starting five: Roi Sumang (21 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, 4 steals vs NU), Chris Javier, Sam Razon, Jay-ar Sumido, Pedrito Galanza DLSU projected starting five: Norbert Torres (16 points, 14 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 blocks vs UP), LA Revilla, Jed Manguera, Jeron Teng, Arnold Van Opstal
ROUND 1 - La Salle defeated UE 87-63 on July 31 ROUND 2 - UE defeated La Salle 74-69 on August 20
