PNR suspends Tutuban-Alabang train operations due to floods

July 21, 2012 9:09am
The floods caused by heavy rain early Saturday prompted the Philippine National Railways to suspend its operations between Tutuban in Manila and Alabang in southern Metro Manila.

PNR spokesman Paul de Quiros said they were forced to “hold” the operations starting 7 a.m. because of flooding at the tracks in the southern Metro Manila area.

“May flooding sa Magallanes area. Basta may flooding 4 to 6 inches above the track hinihinto namin ang takbo ng train, baka may damage sa train namin," he said in an interview on dzBB radio.

Rain since early Saturday had caused floods in several parts of Metro Manila, rendering many roads impassable to light vehicles.

Many colleges in Metro Manila were also forced to suspend classes for the day. — LBG, GMA News
