NDRRMC: 2 dead, 2 missing in 'Ferdie' wake
At least two people were reported dead while two were missing in the wake of rain brought by Tropical Depression Ferdie, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said Saturday.
NDRRMC head Benito Ramos said one of the fatalities was a Laguna resident who drowned Friday afternoon and was initially reported missing.
In an interview on "Balitanghali," Ramos said one of the fatalities was Jonathan Sagodaquiel, 31, who drowned in Wawa village in Lumban in Laguna.
The NDRRMC earlier reported Sagodaquiel was "intoxicated" while crossing the Lumban River "and was swept by the strong current."
He said Sagodaquiel's body had been recovered.
Ramos said the other fatality was a 35-year-old from San Isidro village in Naguilian in La Union.
Still missing are a six-year-old in Brgy. San Gabriel in La Union; and a resident of Brgy. San Andres in Cainta, Rizal.
Earlier, state weather forecasters said Ferdie had merged with a low-pressure area after crossing Northern Philippines.
