The Far Eastern University Tamaraws shoot for their second win, while the De La Salle University Green Archers try to make it three in a row and strengthen their early position at the top of the standings, Sunday at the SM Mall of Asia, in the 75th season of the UAAP.

     SEASON 74 HISTORY LESSON

ROUND ONE - FEU defeated La Salle 74-65 on July 10

ROUND TWO - FEU defeated La Salle 66-57 on September 11

Trailing for most of their season-opener against the UST Growling Tigers, FEU cranked up their defense in the fourth quarter, holding their opponents to 23.8 percent shooting in the game's last 10 minutes. With less than 60 seconds to play however, they were helped out by two huge breaks, first, an unfortunate goaltend by Kevin Ferrer, then a sly pickpocket by Terrence Romeo on Jeric Fortuna that led to the go-ahead lay-in by RR Garcia, and the 73-72 win.

Entering the season, the question of how Garcia and Romeo could play together was once again a hot topic, but the duo showed they could get on the same page, as they combined for 17 points in the final period, out-scoring the Tigers by five all on their own.

La Salle on the other hand, is coming off another fourth quarter gem, bucking UE late, 67-59, with rookie Jeron Teng taking charge again in crunch time.

The Warriors were down by just a single point, 51-50, with 6:23 left in the game, but the Archers put the finishing touches via a 10-0 run, five coming from the younger Teng, as part of a 16-9 tally to wrap up their match. That put DLSU up 2-0, making them the early leaders in the standings.

Aside from once again standout performances from Jeron Teng and LA Revilla, La Salle got a boost from the likes of Jovet Mendoza, Thomas Torres and Arnold Van Opstal, with the latter in particular standing out with Norbert Torres stuck on the bench with foul trouble.

With both teams thinking ardently of the Final Four, this could be the perfect chance for either to make an early statement win.  - AMD, GMA News
