A fire that hit a commercial building near a Light Rail Transit (LRT-2) station in Quezon City Saturday afternoon caused at least P2 million in damage to property.

The fire destroyed several establishments in the five-story building at the corner of Aurora Boulevard and Betty Go-Belmonte Street, radio dzBB reported Sunday.

Investigators said the fire started from a dormitory on the third floor and damaged a nearby academy for special children and a local religious group’s church.

Saturday’s fire reached Task Force Alpha before firefighters finally put it out at 8 p.m.

No one was initially reported hurt in the fire.

LRT Administration spokesman Hernando Cabrera tweeted “LRT2 operations (are) not affected by (the) ongoing fire near Betty Go Station.” — LBG, GMA News
