Active users of Twitter may soon have access to all the tweets they made since Day One, once the micro-blogging service comes out with a tool that can export their posts.
Twitter chief executive Dick Costolo hinted the tweets can be exported to a file, according to a report on the New York Times.
“We’re working on a tool to let users export all of their tweets. You’ll be able to download a file of them,” the NYT quoted Costolo as saying at meeting with the paper's reporters and editors.
However, he hinted such a job of "going through all tweets of all time" may take quite some time.
Costolo did not say when Twitter would make the personal search tool or export tool available for public use.
Still, he said users at some time would be able to look through their entire history of messages posted to Twitter.
The NYT report noted the demand to access past tweets has grown since Twitter developed into a real time news and communication resource.
Although users of other social media sites can export their data to a file, they had to rely on third-party apps in doing so for Twitter. — TJD, GMA News
