Four-year-old Pinoy boy expelled in Dubai for being hyperactive
The parents of a four-year-old boy in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) are unhappy that their son has been expelled from a school's summer class program for being "hyperactive."
According to a report of the news site Gulf News on Wednesday, the boy was expelled two days after he was admitted into the school, claiming he had "behavioral incapacities" and needed special care.
The boy's father Rommel Liwanag, 47, said they were informed by phone about the decision of the United International Private School (UIPS).
He said he felt that the school discriminated against their son because a child's learning capacity cannot be judged in two days.
The father admitted that his son had a short attention span, easily became bored, and was very active and inquisitive.
However, he said the boy's pediatrician claimed that everything was normal for his age.

However, Gulf News quoted UIPS Principal Dr. Eunice Orzame as saying the boy "is not really recommended for the mainstream classes" because of his behavioral problems.
She said the school hoped that the boy would "follow rules, obey, and behave" but that he "did nothing but just roam around the classroom."
She lamented that the school did not have special education facilities at present. - VVP, GMA News
