Families in QC village flee as San Mateo-Marikina River water level rises
At least 95 families in a village in Quezon City fled their homes Wednesday noon as the water level at the San Mateo-Marikina River rose due to heavy rain.
Officials of Barangay Bagong Silangan said they expect more families in low-lying areas to evacuate in the next few hours, radio dzBB's Roland Bola reported.
"Dadami ang [lilikas] na mga tao dahil mas mababa ang ibang area," a village official said.
Floods in some areas in the village were waist-deep, the report said.
The families who had fled their homes were brought to the covered court of Barangay Bagong Silangan, it added.
Several areas in Metro Manila and nearby provinces were flooded in the wake of heavy rain brought by the southwest monsoon enhanced by Typhoon Gener. — LBG, GMA News
