Amid heavy rain, some parts of NCR suspend afternoon classes
Amid heavy rain, afternoon classes up to the high school level in some parts of Metro Manila were suspended Friday.
In Malabon City, public information officer Bong Padua said the rain and the high tide prompted the suspension of classes in the afternoon.
"Ngayon hanggang hapon na isususpindi ang klase," he said in an interview on dzBB radio.
He said this covers the preschool to high school levels. He also said this covers as well the City of Malabon University and the City of Malabon Polytechnic Institute.
In Pasay City, dzBB's Sam Nielsen reported the city government also suspended afternoon classes up to the high school level.
Classes at the college level will be up to the discretion of the college administrators, the report added.
Earlier, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said monsoon rain may persist even after tropical cyclone "Gener" (Saola) exited Philippine territory.
As of 9:05 a.m. Friday, PAGASA said rain was moderate to heavy at 5 to 10 mm per hour in most parts of Metro Manila and may persist in less than an hour. –KG, GMA News
