Malabon exec: Body of drowning victim recovered
Coast Guard and city rescue teams in Malabon City recovered Friday the body of a man who drowned and was reported missing, a city official said.
Malabon City public information officer Bong Padua cited initial reports identifying the fatality as Jerome Orea, 19, who he said drowned in the Dampalit area.
"Na-recover [siya] ng rescue team ng Coast Guard at Malabon... nalunod ito," he said in an interview on dzBB radio.
He cited sketchy initial reports indicating the fatality was with two companions crossing the Dampalit area amid a heavy water current.
Padua said the two companions, who he did not immediately identify, were safe.
