Two elderly siblings died in a fire that razed a house in San Juan town in La Union province Wednesday night, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said Friday.

In a report, the NDRRMC said the incident occurred at 10:15 p.m. Wednesday at a two-story house made of light materials in Sta. Rosa village.

Killed in the fire were Mariano Fontanilla, 90; and Ursula Fontanilla, 84, the NDRRMC said in a report posted on its website Friday afternoon.

"The two owners of the house who were siblings... died when they were trapped on the ground floor of their house," it said.

It added the remains of the victims were brought to a local funeral parlor. — LBG, GMA News
