10 OFWs arrive from Syria; 32 more arriving Monday
At least 10 more overseas Filipino workers arrived home from strife-torn Syria Friday night, while another batch of 32 is set to arrive on Monday, the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration said Saturday.
The OWWA said the 10 OFWs arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1 at 10 p.m. on an Etihad flight, radio dzBB’s Mao dela Cruz reported.
On Monday, the 32 OFWs are due to arrive on two flights, in two batches of 16, the report quoted the OWWA as saying.
While the first flight home on Monday is due to arrive at 4:35 p.m., the second is due to arrive at 10 p.m.
Earlier, the Department of Foreign Affairs said Filipinos to be repatriated from Syria will get assistance from the Philippine embassy.
It also said they are to be escorted by members of the Philippine Government's Rapid Response Team (RRT) from the Philippine Embassy to the Damascus International Airport.
The DFA also called on the family members of Filipinos in Syria to provide the Office of the Undersecretary for Migrant Workers' Affairs (OUMWA) with up-to-date information regarding their loved ones' whereabouts and contact details in Syria by calling (02) 834-3333 or (02) 834-4996 or by e-mailing oumwa@dfa.gov.ph.
Filipinos in Syria are also urged to call the Embassy at (963-11)-6132626 so that the latter's personnel could reach them. — LBG, GMA News
