Tennis: PHL Davis Cup mainstay Huey, with partner Inglot, claims Citi Open title
Philippine Davis Cup mainstay Treat Huey teamed up with partner Dominic Inglot to claim the Citi Open Doubles title, the duo's first ATP championship, Sunday (Monday, PHL time), defeating Kevin Anderson and Sam Querrey 7-6, 6-7, 10-5. It was a case of David versus Goliath, as the 5'10" Huey and the 6'4" Inglot gave up considerable height to their opponents, the 6'8" Anderson and the '6'6" Querrey, but the duo, which reached the third round of the French Open back in June, managed to come away victorious, winning $74,620. The pair had dispatched Alexandr Dolgopolov and Xavier Malisse 7-5, 4-6, 10-6 in their opener, then followed that up with a victory over Robert Farah and Aisam-Ul-Haq, 6-2, 6-2, before toppling Drew Courtney and Steve Johnson 6-4, 6-4 in the semifinal round. The Filipino-American Huey is expected to represent the Philippines anew, when the country is matched-up against Indonesia in September, in the Davis Cup Asia/Oceania Group II Finals. - AMD, GMA News
