ILO Convention 189 para sa kasambahay, inaprubahan ng Senado

Inaprubahan sa ikatlo at huling pagbasa ang isang resolusyon na sumasang-ayon sa ratipikasyon ng International Labor Organization (ILO) Convention 189 na nagbibigay proteksiyon sa lahat ng kasambahay.   Sa botong 20 pabor, walang tumutol at abstention, inaprubahan ng Senado ang Senate Resolution No. 816, o ang Resolution Concurring in the Ratification of Convention 189, Convention Concerning Decent Work for Domestic Workers.   Kabilang sa bomotong pabor sa tratado sina Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile, Senate President Pro-Tempore Jinggoy Estrada, Senate Majority Floor Leader Tito Sotto, Senate Minority Floor Leader Alan Peter Cayetano, Joker Arroyo, Pia Cayetano, Frank Drilon, Chiz Escudero, T.G. Guingona, Gringo Honasan, Ping Lacson, Lito Lapid, Loren Legarda, Bongbong Marcos, Serge Osmenia, Koko Pimentel, Ralph Recto, Bong Revilla Jr., Sonny Trillanes at Manny Villar.   Natuwa naman si Enrile sa pagkakapasa ng panukala dahil maraming kababayan natin ang nasa ibang bansa na nagtatrabaho bilang katulong.    “We need to protect our workers and ensure that their rights are well-protected, that they have access to services that are beneficial to them, that they are treated well and that they are protected from abuses,” ayon kay Enrile.   Sinabi naman ni Sen. Manny Villar na malaki ang maitutulong ng pagpasa ng Senado sa ILO Convention 189 para sa proteksiyon at kagalingan ng ating Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) at local na kasambahay. - BM, GMA News
