PNP: 16,702 wanted persons naaresto sa loob ng 6 na buwan

Umaabot na sa 16,702 ang naarestong wanted persons mula Enero hanggang Hunyo sa taong ito, ayon sa Philippine National Police. Ito ay kasama umano sa accomplishment report na pormal na ipepresenta ni PNP Chief, Director General Nicanor Bartolome kay Presidente Benigno Aquino III sa ika-111 anibersaryo ng police service ngayong araw ng Miyerkules. Sa kabuuang bilang ng mga nahuli sa loob ng unang anim na buwan, 74 ay kasama sa listahan ng "Top Most wanted Persons" na may nakapatong na reward. Ayon sa report, May 131 din na wanted persons ang sumuko sa mga awtoridad at anim naman ang napatay nang magtangkang manlaban sa akto ng pang-aaresto. "Aside from the arrest of these wanted persons, the PNP also neutralized 91 criminal gangs and rounded-up 358 gang members in separate operations that also resulted in the confiscation of 90 assorted firearms.  The PNP filed 137 cases against the arrested criminal gang members," ayon sa PNP. “The arrest of these wanted persons manifests the keen resolve of the PNP to uphold the rule of law by establishing the certainty of prosecution and punishment of criminal offenders,”  ayon naman kay PNP Spokesman, Chief Superintendent Generoso Cerbo Jr. Dagdag pa niya, naibigay na rin ng PNP ang aabot sa PhP4.745-million reward sa confidential informants na umanoy nagbigay ng mga impormasyon na nagresulta sa pagkadakip sa 39 na most wanted persons. Umabot din sa 3,791 na mga loose firearms mula sa mga hindi awtorisadong firearm holders ang narekober ng PNP. Karamihan sa mga baril ay galing sa wanted persons, organized crime groups, nakumpiska sa checkpoint operations at yaong mga nakumpiska sa pagpatupad ng search warrants. "A total of 80 loose firearms were confiscated from 231 arrested motorcycle-riding suspects involved in various streetcrime activities," ayon sa ulat ng PNP. Nasa P1.788 billion halaga naman ng illegal drugs ang na-recover ng PNP sa 4,211 na magkakahiwalay na anti-drug operations sa buong bansa. "A total of 7,401 violators of RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 were rounded-up by the PNP in drug buy-bust operations, raids and searches, and Marijuana eradication operations in the countryside," ayon sa report. Pinagmamalaki din ng PNP ang umanoy "significant" na pagbaba ng carnapping incidents sa unang anim na buwan ng 2012, habang patuloy din umano na bumababa ang mga kaso ng carnapping mula Enero hanggang Hunyo sa taong ito. "A total of 547 carnapping cases were recorded from January to June 2012, showing a sharp drop of 25.98% from the 739 motor vehicles stolen during the same period 6-month in 2011," dagdag ng report. — LBG, GMA News
