MMDA: Number coding lifted in entire NCR for Thursday

August 8, 2012 7:30pm
With more floods and heavy rain expected in Metro Manila, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority has lifted the number coding scheme for Thursday.

The MMDA announced the decision on its Twitter account Wednesday night.

"Number Coding is lifted tomorrow, Aug 9, 2012 (Thursday) in WHOLE Metro Manila," it said.

The number coding regulation has been lifted since Tuesday for most of Metro Manila, with the exception of Makati City.

But on Wednesday night, Makati City announced that it is lifting number coding for Thursday as well.

If the number coding scheme were in effect on Thursday, vehicles with plate numbers ending in 7 and 8 would be barred from Metro Manila's major roads from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., with the exception of "window hours" that vary from city to city.

While state weather forecasters predicted improving weather Thursday, rain fell heavily on the metropolitan area Wednesday afternoon. - BM, GMA News
