Taguig City now a calamity zone

Another city in Metro Manila was declared under a state of calamity Friday, in the wake of days of heavy rain and floods.
 
Taguig City said its city council arrived at the decision after noting there were many flooded areas and people needing help.

The city joined 11 other local government units in the National Capital Region already declared calamity areas.
 
"The Taguig City Council has declared that the City is under a state of calamity," it said through its Twitter account.
 
"Magtulungan po tayo lalo na sa panahong ito (Let's help each other in these trying times)," the city council added.
 
It also said residents who need help can call the following hotlines 
 
  • Taguig Emergency: 165-7777
  • Taguig Rescue: 623-5244
  • Office of Social Welfare and Development: 542-3693 
 
Several areas of Metro Manila are under a state of calamity in the wake of heavy rain and floods in past days.
 
At least 60 people had been killed in the wake of the floods, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said. — ELR, GMA News
