August 11, 2012 7:49am
A Nepalese was arrested Friday night at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport after being found in possession of 1.8 kilos of methamphetamine hydrochloride (shabu).

The Nepalese, initially identified as Sanbahadur Tamang, 45, had arrived aboard a Philippine Airlines flight from Bangkok, Thailand, radio dzBB reported Saturday.

Customs officials at the NAIA-2 found the 1.8 kilos of shabu in the suspect's baggage shortly after alighting Philippine Airlines PR-731 flight.

Airport authorities took the Nepalese into custody after the discovery.

Investigators are looking into the possibility the Nepalese was acting as a drug courier.

They are verifying information on the Nepalese's contacts in the Philippines. — LBG, GMA News
