Social networking site Facebook has gained the domain FacebookConnect.com after filing a complaint with the National Arbitration Forum.
Panelist Paul DeCicco said the previous holder of the domain, Daniel Kastner, appeared to register and use the domain name "in bad faith."
"Accordingly, it is Ordered that the <facebookconnect.com> domain name be TRANSFERRED from Respondent to Complainant," DeCicco said.
DeCicco noted Facebook has trademark rights to the "Facebook" and acquired these rights before Kastner's registration of the FacebookConnect.com domain name.
He also noted Kastner "is not affiliated" with Facebook "and had not been authorized to use the FACEBOOK mark in any capacity."
"Respondent had actual knowledge of Complainant and its rights in the FACEBOOK mark prior to registering the at-issue domain name," he added.
A separate article on tech site The Next Web said Facebook Connect is a set of APIs that let Facebook members log onto third-party websites, apps, mobile devices and gaming systems with their FB profile.
"Weird as it may seem, you actually won’t find any straight-up mentions of Facebook Connect on the social networking company’s Developers website anymore (it’s all about Social Plugins baby!)," it said. — TJD, GMA News
