The De La Salle University Green Archers try to put a heartbreak of a double-overtime loss behind them and snap a three-game losing streak against an Adamson University Soaring Falcons squad that got even more depleted during the rain delays, Sunday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum at 2pm. The Green Archers thought they had the game in the bag after LA Revilla hit a shot at the buzzer, but when referees waved it off, they went through two more extra periods before ultimately falling 84-82 to the UST Growling Tigers. As a result, DLSU sank to 2-3, with their losses all coming against teams above the .500 mark. La Salle lost versus FEU and UST by two points in both games, and led late in the third quarter before Ateneo took over. They could have put themselves in a better position in the end game by hitting free throws, a perennial weakness of the team. In their last three games, all losses, they shot 61.84 percent from the stripe, or 47-of-76. That's actually a step up too from their season number, 58.6 percent, or 75-of-128. This could especially be seen in the second overtime period versus the Growling Tigers, when DLSU went 0/4 in a two-point loss. Adamson on the other hand, will have to somehow compensate for the loss of Alex Nuyles, who will miss the rest of the season after re-injuring his shoulder in their 77-62 loss to the NU Bulldogs. While Nuyles hasn't been his usual explosive self this season, due to other lingering injuries carrying over from the summer, he had led the team in assists, with 3.8 per game. And though he's norming only 6.3 markers a game, the Falcons already struggle to put up points. They're second-to-last to be specific, averaging just 62.5 an encounter. They'll need better production from their big man combo of Rodney Brondial and Eric Camson, while transferee Jericho Cruz needs to show he can score more consistently. - AMD, GMA News Season 74 history lesson
