Justice Secretary Leila de Lima rushed to the NBP compound Saturday morning to investigate how convicted killer Rommel Laciste managed to escape from his cell.
De Lima met with NBP superintendent Richard Schwarzkopf Jr. over the incident, according to a report by radio dzBB’s Mao dela Cruz.
Laciste was convicted by an Isabela provincial court for murder. He was linked to several criminal cases, including the killing of a parole officer.
In 2006, he was arrested for the killing of Concepcion Lumanglas, an assistant parole and probation officer, in Isabela. He was tagged as the mastermind in the killing.
His disappearance was made public only days after Go, a businessman convicted for the killing of engineering student Eldon Maguan in 1991, was found to have disappeared last August 14.
Go and his nephew resurfaced Wednesday night, claiming they were abducted by men who introduced themselves as National Bureau of Investigation agents.
Following the incident, Go was returned to the NBP but placed inside the maximum security compound. — LBG, GMA News
