Senator Franklin Drilon said Thursday he does not own a Twitter account, warning the public not to believe statements being released by accounts using his name.

"May I warn the public of several mischievous accounts in the social networking site, Twitter, bearing my name," Drilon said in a statement.

"I ask the public, especially the media, to ignore and treat as fake any statement being issued via Twitter bearing my name, and refrain from using the site to produce story," he added.

The senator explained that he does not own a Twitter account nor did he authorize his staff to maintain one for him.

"I do not use Twitter to communicate and express my thoughts and issue statements. I have other means to do that," he said.

A search on the Internet shows that there is at least one Twitter account using Drilon's name. — Kimberly Jane Tan/RSJ, GMA News
