Senator Koko Pimentel on Tuesday filed Senate Resolution No. 854. The resolution seeks to commend and recognize the achievement of the members, coaching staff, and the management of the Philippine men's basketball team, the Smart Gilas II, in the 34th William Jones Cup.

 

Smart Gilas last Sunday defeated an American team 76 to 75 to win the Jones Cup.

 

The R. William Jones Cup is an international basketball tournament annually held in Taiwan since 1977.

 

The Philippines had previously won the Jones Cup in 1981, 1985, and 1998. — DVM, GMA News
