Two Bureau of Immigration agents at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport were relieved from their posts after they were accused of helping two suspects in the 2011 murder of Palawan broadcaster Gerry Ortega flee abroad.

BI agents Rodelio Udarde and Wesley Gutierrez were ordered to report to the BI main office in Manila while they are probed for allegedly helping former Palawan Gov. Joel Reyes and his brother, former Coron mayor Mario Reyes Jr. to flee.

A witness claimed Wednesday that the two helped facilitate the two brothers' exit from the country, according to a report on dzBB radio early Thursday.

Gutierrez allegedly cleared the fake passport used by the former governor while Udarde supposedly facilitated their departure, the report said.

On Wednesday, a hooded man told media at a press conference he drove the brothers to the NAIA where BI personnel allegedly facilitated their departure.

The brothers are wanted for the killing of Ortega. They are also the subjects of an alert by the International Police Organization (Interpol).

Both were were included in Interpol’s most wanted list after they failed to surrender to authorities following the issuance of warrants of arrest by the Puerto Princesa regional trial court.

They went into hiding last March after the Department of Justice found probable cause to indict them for the murder of Ortega. — LBG, GMA News
