LPG dealers hike prices
Consumers received a whammy on the first day of September as some liquefied petroleum gas dealers hiked prices of their products. The price adjustments were as high as P7.84 per kilo or P86 per 11-kg tank, according to a report on "Balitanghali" on Saturday. One firm hiked prices by P6 per kilo or P66 per 11-kg tank. Another firm jacked up its prices by P7.84 per kilo, the report said. Last week, a Department of Energy official said prices of LPG may go up in September due to the prices of the commodity in the world market. An earlier radio dzBB report said DOE Oil Industry Management Bureau director Zenaida Monsada also cited the tension in the Middle East as a reason for the expected hike. LPG prices are also expected to go up as the Christmas season nears, since there is a higher demand for it at this time of the year. LPG dealers usually adjust their prices once a month. — LBG, GMA News
