Moderate to heavy rain expected over east VisMin from LPA –PAGASA
PAGASA has urged residients in Eastern Visayas and Mindanao to be cautious of possible flash floods and landslides as a low pressure area (LPA) hovered near Surigao City Friday morning.
In its 10:30 a.m. advisory, PAGASA said the LPA was estimated at 485 km east of Surigao City in Surigao Del Norte as of 8 a.m.
"The LPA is expected to bring moderate to heavy rain (2.5 to 15.0 mm per hour) and thunderstorms in Eastern Visayas and Mindanao which may trigger flash floods and landslides," it said.
Earlier, PAGASA forecaster Gener Quitlong said the LPA may bring rain to parts of the country although their models do not show it may become a cyclone.
Quitlong also said the LPA may enhance the southwest monsoon.
Meanwhile, PAGASA warned of a possible thunderstorm over Metro Manila in the next 12 hours.
"(A) thunderstorm is likely to develop in Metro Manila within 12 hours. All are advised to monitor for updates," it said in a 10:00am advisory. — TJD, GMA News
