Alleged ‘kotong cop’ who victimized NCRPO chief’s son surfaces
After lying low over the weekend, a policeman who allegedly attempted to extort P20,000 from the son of new Metro Manila police director Chief Superintendent Leonardo Espina surfaced Monday.
Accompanied by lawyers, SPO4 Jose dela Peña showed up at the Quezon City Police District office, according to a report on GMA 7 news program "24 Oras."
The report said dela Peña appeared calm as he faced the media, but declined to answer any questions.
His lawyers said their client did not immediately surface because he feared for his safety.
Tuesday last week, dela Peña and PO2 Resty del Rosario allegedly accosted Espina's son and accused him of engaging in phone sex while in his car.
Del Rosario surfaced Thursday, but claimed he was just following dela Peña’s orders and they received no money from the younger Espina.
The two have been relieved from their duties and were placed on floating status. — DVM, GMA News
