Jordan wants to enhance trade ties with PHL

September 13, 2012 7:54am
Jordan wishes to enhance its bilateral economic relations with the Philippines, especially in the field of trade and investment, the Department of Foreign Affairs said Wednesday night.

The DFA said Jordan's King Abdullah II disclosed this to new Philippine Ambassador to Jordan Olivia Palala as she presented her credentials to him at the Basman Palace in Amman last Sept. 3.

"During the ceremony, Ambassador Palala conveyed to the Hashemite monarch the sincere desire of the Philippine government to foster and enhance the long-standing friendship between the two countries. The King, on the other hand, expressed his government's desire to enhance bilateral economic relations with the Philippines, especially in the field of trade and investment," the DFA said Wednesday night.

Accompanying Palala were Embassy First Secretary and Consul Emmanuel Fernandez; Third Secretary and Vice Consul Jeffrey Salik; and Administrative Officer and Attaché Maria Rosamy Reyes.

Capping the ceremony was a visit to the royal cemetery where Palala laid wreaths at the tombs of Jordan’s King Hussein, King Abdullah I, and King Talal. –KG, GMA News
