Heavy predawn rain floods parts of Metro Manila, schools cancel classes
Heavy rain flooded some major thoroughfares in Metro Manila before dawn Saturday as state weather forecasters raised the red rainfall alert over the metropolis.

PAGASA issued at 4:30 a.m. a red rainfall warning indicating "intense to torrential" rain that may go on for two to three hours.
"Expect intense to torrential rains over Metro Manila and (the rain will) most likely continue for the next two to three hours," it said.
Also, it said flooding is possible over low-lying areas and those located near the river channels.
PAGASA advised residents in high-risk areas to take precautionary measures and keep monitoring updates.
It particularly noted torrential rainfall over Quezon City, Pasig City and Manila in the past three hours.
The MMDA's Twitter account indicated floods in:
- Blumentritt, tire deep; Dapitan and Laon Laan, half tire deep; Maysilo, gutter deep
- España, knee deep; Manila City Hall, half-tire deep; UN Avenue, half-tire deep
The Makati City government's Twitter account indicated floods in:

- as of 2:12 a.m., reported flooded area in Brgy. Tejeros: J.P. Rizal cor. Chino Roces, 5-6 inches, passable.
- as of 2:12 a.m., reported flooded areas in Brgy. Tejeros: Pasong Tirad St. cor. Montojo St., 7-8 inches, passable
- as of 2:04 a.m., reported flooded areas in Brgy La Paz: Archimedes St., 4 inches and Davila St., 10 inches, passable
