NCR floods disrupt PNR commuter trips, cause buildup at Skyway

September 15, 2012 5:44am

The floods caused by heavy rain before dawn Saturday disrupted anew the commuter service of the Philippine National Railways (PNR).

In posts on its Twitter account early Saturday, the PNR said the floodwaters from the rain were disrupting its services.

"Flood waters disrupting commuter service. Please standby for announcement on resumption," it said shortly after 5 a.m.

The PNR said floodwaters in Bulmentritt, España and the EDSA-Magallanes sections of the tracks were above five inches.

Because of this, it said the commuter service for 5:05 a.m. had been cancelled.

Also, it noted the flooding along various sections of the tracks forced the cancellation of the 5:05 a.m. trip between Tutuban and Alabang.

Meanwhile, the Skyway in southern Metro Manila reported heavy traffic buildup as of 5:26 a.m. due to gutter-deep floods at the Sharp/Alabang southbound area.
