PAGASA: Two Luzon dams keep gates open

September 15, 2012 8:26am
At least two major dams in Luzon – one in Bulacan and the other in Benguet – kept their gates open early Saturday to let out excess water.

PAGASA said Ipo Dam in Bulacan and Binga Dam in Benguet each kept one gate open at 0.3 meter and 0.5 meter respectively.

In its 6 a.m. update, PAGASA said Magat Dam in the Ifugao-Isabela area had closed its gate as of Friday.

As of 6 a.m., Ipo Dam's water level rose to 101.17 meters, higher than the 100.08-meter water level at 6 a.m. Friday.

This was also higher than the dam's 100.80-meter high water level.

Binga's water level rose to 574.83 meters from 574.70 meters Friday. This was slightly below the dam's 575-meter high level.

Meanwhile, Magat closed its gate at 6:08 a.m. Friday, PAGASA said.

Magat's water level as of Saturday was at 192.18 meters, slightly below the 192.26 meters Friday but still above the 190-meter high level. — LBG, GMA News
