Anti-jueteng former prelate claims getting death threats
A retired Catholic archbishop who has been a vocal critic of jueteng claimed to receive fresh death threats following his recent public pronouncements about the game's operations.
Retired Lingayen-Dagupan Archbishop Oscar Cruz on Tuesday said the latest threat was in the form of an envelope containing dried petals and a check supposedly worth P80,000, radio dzBB's Carlo Mateo reported.
Cruz was quoted in the report as saying this was similar to previous threats where he got an envelope with cut-up pieces of a black ribbon and a P10,000 check.
The archbishop emeritus said he will not be cowed by the threats, and that he will continue to speak out against the illegal but popular numbers game.
