Sa pagsisimula ng dalawang linggong bakasyon ng Kongreso sa Biyernes, nagawang mapagtibay ng Senado ang 197 panukalang batas. Kabilang dito ang paglikha ng panibagong distrito sa lalawigan ng Bukidnon.

Sa ulat na ipinalabas ng tanggapan ni Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile, sinabing kabilang sa mga inaksyunang panukala ng kapulungan ay Anti-Cybercrime Act (RA No. 10175), The Data Privacy Act, People’s Survival Fund, An Act Authorizing Clerical or Typographical Errors in Birthdate or Sex of a Person without Need for Judicial Order, An Act Reviving the Observance of Arbor Day, at The Act Reapportioning the Province of Cotabato into Three Legislative Districts.

Nakabinbin naman sa bicameral conference committee ang Househelper’s Additional Benefits and Protection Ac at ang Involuntary and Disappearance Act. Nagawa namang maipasa sa Bicameral conference committee ang AFP Modernization Program na naghihintay na lamang ng lagda ni Pangulong Benigno “Noynoy" Aquino III.

Naaprubahan naman sa ikatlong pagbasa ang 86 panukala na kinabibilangan ng Meat Labeling Act, The Philippine Interior Design Act, The Department of Housing and Urban Development Act, Strengthening the Career Executive Service at The PNP BJMP and BFP Height Equality Act.

Ayon kay Enrile, 102 panukala ang isinumite na sa Office of the President, partikular ang paglikha ng bagong korte at paaralan sa elementary at sekondarya.

Bagong Distrito

Sa isinagawang botohan nitong Huwebes, sinabi ni Sen. Ferdinand “Bongbong" Marcos Jr. na 12 senador ang bomoto pabor sa panukalang paglikha ng bagong distrito sa Bukidnon.

“The population size of Bukidnon has steadily grown over the years and as such the province needs an additional district so it can be duly represented in the House of Representatives. At present, Bukidnon has three districts," paliwanag ni Marcos, pinuno ng Senate committee on local governments and urban development.

Sa sandaling pirmahann ni Aquino ang naturang panukalang batas, magiging apat na ang distrito ng Bukidnon.

Ang unang distrito ay kinabibilangan ng munisipalidad ng Baungon, Libona, Malitbog, Manolo Fortich, Sumilao, at Talakag. Bahagi naman ng second district ang Malaybalay City, Impasugong, Cabanglasan, Lantapan, at San Fernando.

Ang third district ay sasakop sa Kadingilan, Damulog, Dangcagan, Don Carlos, Maramag, Kibawe, Kitaotao, at Quezon. Habang sasailalim naman sa bagong distrito ang Valencia City, Kalilangan, at Pangantucan.

“The rule on reapportionment is based on the principle of equality of representation. Larger representative districts should, therefore, be entitled to more representatives in Congress. The people of the province of Bukidnon certainly deserve additional seats in the House of Representatives, after having complied with the (Constitution)," ayon kay Marcos.
