Police are now tracking down unidentified motorcycle-riding men who ambushed and shot dead a yet unidentified policeman in Manila's Tondo district Monday afternoon.

 

The victim was driving a Strada-type pickup along Honorio Lopez Street near Tondo General Hospital when the shooting occurred, radio dzBB's Cecilia Villarosa reported.

 

Manila Police District homicide section head Chief Inspector Joey de Ocampo cited initial investigation results which said the incident occurred at 1:30 p.m.

 

Homicide investigators are verifying information the victim had the rank of Police Officer 1.

The victim was declared dead on arrival at the Tondo General Hospital as he was shot in the head.

 

Also, five bullets hit the driver-side window and one hit the passenger-side window.

 

Shell casings from a .45 cal pistol were recovered at the scene.
