Diarrhea outbreak in Misamis town kills 3 children – report

A diarrhea outbreak killed three children in Misamis Oriental, said a Wednesday report from radio station Radyo Mo Nationwide (RMN).

 

The report identified the fatalities as Prince Hermoso, nine months old, of Barangay Poblacion; Shaira Malongayan, six months old; and Jenikalyn Camiquin, 1, of Barangay Katipunan.

 

Furthermore, some 194 residents, most of them also children, were taken ill in the outbreak.

 

The Misamis Oriental Provincial Health Office declared an outbreak due to the high number of people affected.

 

Health officials have taken samples from local water sources to trace the cause of the illness.

 

They also distributed powdered chlorine to help residents make sure their water is safe to drink. — DVM, GMA News
