A Mass and a program will precede the much-awaited opening of the Quezon-Araneta Avenue underpass that is expected to ease the flow of traffic in one of Quezon City's busiest areas. President Benigno Aquino III is expected to attend the opening of the underpass at the corner of Quezon Avenue and Araneta Avenue, radio dzBB's Allan Gatus reported. The report said Aquino was expected to arrive in the area at 11 a.m. for the program before the facility is formally opened to traffic. It quoted those behind the project as saying the underpass has three pumps to suck floodwaters if heavy rain hits the area. Last Sunday, Malacañang said the Department of Public Works and Highways had indicated the underpass will be opened to traffic on September 28. Traffic in the area had been snarled while the construction, which started earlier this year, was ongoing. — LBG, GMA News
