While they welcomed the Supreme Court's temporary restraining order against the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012, hacktivists are not letting down their guard against the threat the new law purportedly poses.
Anonymous Pilipinas reminded the public the TRO is temporary, adding it is necessary to sustain the campaign against the measure.
"Let's see how things go. Things can still change. It IS just a TRO," it said in a post on its Twitter account. It also reminded the government it will continue watching authorities for efforts to curtail the rights to freedom of speech and expression.
The group also said those opposing the controversial measure "must keep fighting the good fight."
"We must keep fighting the good fight! Don't let your guard down because of this. Let them know we're watching," it said. Hacktivists were among the groups opposing the Cybercrime Prevention Act, which gained flak for its provisions on online libel.
Many groups voiced concerns the online libel provision may have a chilling effect and violate the Constitutional right to freedom of speech and freedom of expression.
Last week, groups allied with Anonymous attacked some government sites, but stopped after some sites providing critical information were also attacked. — ELR/TJD, GMA News
