The website of the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) became temporarily inaccessible Wednesday afternoon, but Comelec chairman Sixto Brillantes Jr. allayed fears it may have been hacked.
In a post on his Twitter account, Brillantes said the cause was more of a technical glitch, and that they are working to resolve the problem.
"The COMELEC website (http://www.comelec.gov.ph/ ) is temporarily unavailable to those inquiring about the status of their registration and voter’s ID," he said.
As of 4 p.m. Wednesday, the site was still inaccessible.
But Brillantes, in a separate tweet, said the downtime is due to a technical glitch.
"The downtime, however, is by reason of a technical glitch. We will be back online as soon as we fix the problem," he said.
