Microsoft probes 'Halo 4' leak

October 13, 2012 2:50pm
Microsoft is now looking into a possible leak of its upcoming "Halo 4" game, after images of what appeared to be discs of the game popped up online.

GameInformer.com said many Xbox Live profiles seen on several gaming forums have shown users playing the game, which is to be launched November 6.

"We have seen the reports of 'Halo 4' content being propped on the Web and are working closely with our security teams and law enforcement to address the situation," a Microsoft spokesperson told GameInformer.com.

But GameInformer.com said the spokesperson, when asked directly if the game was leaked, said they did not have anything further to share at this time.

Aside from the profiles, the site said many YouTube videos have also been reportedly removed that featured leaked content.

Gaming site Kotaku.com noted an image of Halo 4's two discs popped up on NeoGAF.

"Some in the forum shrugged it off, saying that reviewers must be getting their copies, to which I chuckle heartily. I can't remember the last time, if ever, consumer code was sent out for review three weeks before release. Please," it said.

Kotaku.com also remarked this may be a "nice warmup" for next year, as Grand Theft Auto V nears release, "and we get a thousand videos showing discs but no loading screen nor gameplay." — TJD, GMA News
