The NBA announced Tuesday (Wednesday, PHL time), that Thursday's (Friday, PHL time) New York Knicks versus Brooklyn Nets game, at the latter's new home arena, the Barclays Center, will push through, in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. Tim Frank, Senior Vice President, Basketball Communications of the league confirmed the news on his Twitter account, saying the game would push through as scheduled.
While the arena itself is undamaged and has power, the New York Times' Howard Beck reported that transportation might be the biggest problem, writing, "Barclays Center was built on a major transit hub, in the hope that most customers would arrive by subway or the Long Island Rail Road. City officials have said it will take four to five days before the bulk of subway services returns." The Nets moved to Brooklyn this past offseason from New Jersey and their arena at the Izod Center. - AMD, GMA NewsKnicks-Nets game will be played as scheduled this Thursday at 7 p.m. at Barclays Center
