November 11, 2012 4:55am
Two suspects in the murder of a TV talent and part-time model in Quezon City last week were taken into police custody while a third suspect was shot dead in an encounter with police over the weekend.
Police arrested Althea Altamirano and Fernando Quiambao Jr. in Pampanga Saturday night while a third suspect was gunned down after allegedly trying to resist arrest.
All three suspects were linked to the murder of model and TV talent Julie Ann Rodelas, radio dzBB on Sunday quoted Quezon City Police District Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit head Chief Inspector Rodelio Marcelo as saying.
The report said Altamirano and Quiambao were arrested at 6 p.m. Saturday in Apalit town in Pampanga and brought to CIDU headquarters. Altamirano denied involvement in the killing.
Rodelas, 20, was shot several times in Cubao last November 6. Altamirano initially claimed the victim was abducted in Pasay City.
Police said their initial investigation showed a black Montero (TWO-505) was owned by Quiambao's mother.
Meanwhile, a report by dzBB's Denver Trinidad said a third suspect was killed in a follow-up operation in Barangay Culiat in Quezon City.
The report said the suspect, initially identified as Fahad Usmad, was to be arrested but allegedly opened fire at the arresting policemen, prompting them to fire back. — ELR, GMA News
