'Angry Birds' soda primed to be top-selling drink in Finland

November 23, 2012 4:57pm
What tastes fruity and is threatening to outsell Coke and Pepsi in Finland? Why, "Angry Birds" soda, of course.

The new product's popularity was one of the unusual highlights at tech conference Slush in Helsinki, tech site The Next Web reported.

It quoted attendees who said the new soda, a spinoff of the monster hit video game, is reportedly giving Coke and Pepsi a run for their money in Finland.

"So, what is it like? Fruity, according to Jamillah (Knowles, TNW's UK editor), who says that it 'tastes a bit like Lilt but less sugary and maybe a bit more like apples,'" it said.

Rovio CMO Peter Vesterbacka was also quoted in the report as saying the soda would soon be available in New Zealand and Australia.

The Next web noted this was the latest iteration of the "Angry Birds" brand, following a string of video games that included a tieup with the "Star Wars" franchise, cookbooks, activity parks, a debit card and even a children’s learning resource in collaboration with CERN. — TJD, GMA News
