PAGASA forecaster Meno Mendoza said that while they expect only one cyclone in December, Bopha had formed off Micronesia in November.
"Ito si Bopha parang maituturing natin na November [cyclone]," he said in an interview on dzBB radio.
Earlier, PAGASA said Bopha is due to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) early Monday. Once it does, it will be locally codenamed "Pablo."
The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council had ordered full-blast preparations for the coming typhoon, including the prepositioning of medicines, relief goods and heavy equipment.
Should the cyclone after Bopha enter the PAR in December, it will be locally codenamed "Quinta."
Mendoza indicated this could still be the one typhoon that usually forms in December.
"Pag December meron tayong isa (We usually have one cyclone in December)," he said. — LBG, GMA News
