Pagreretiro ni PNP chief Bartolome sa susunod na linggo, kinumpirma ni PNoy

Kinumpirma ni Pangulong Benigno Aquino III nitong Huwebes na maagang magreretiro si Philippine National Police chief Director General Nicanor Bartolome. “He will be retiring. I believe, the turn-over ceremony will be next week on the 18th,” pahayag ni Aquino sa pagdiriwang ng anibersaryo ng Department of Labor and Employment sa Pasay City. Si Deputy Director General Alan Purisima ang inaasahang uupo sa mababakanteng posisyon ni Bartolome. Ayon naman kay Bartolome, wala siyang problema sa plano ni Aquino na magpapaaga sa kanyang pagreretiro. "Whatever the President desires, I will follow." Nauna nang inihayag ni Aquino ang kanyang pagkabahala na kung sa Marso pa magreretiro si Bartolome, kung siya ay 56 years old na sa buwan ding iyon, maaapektuhan ang paghahanda para sa eleksyon sa Mayo. Inihayag na ni Interior Secretary Manuel Roxas II na si Purisima ang magiging in-charge sa Task Force Halalaan 2013. "We have tasked Alan Purisima to head the task force that we have formed for the elections next year.
