The line “Nothing is true; Everything is permitted” might not sound much to regular folks, but it’s a creed that has meant a lot to dedicated gamers everywhere. And it's been that way for the past five years. On 17 December 2007, French based video game publisher and developer Ubisoft unleashed a new franchise that would ultimately explore stealth and adventure like never before with the original Assassin’s Creed. Developed by their subsidiary branch Ubisoft Montreal and released for the Playstation 3, Xbox 360, and Microsoft Windows platforms, this ambitious game would take the open-world formula popularized by the sandbox styled game Grand Theft Auto and splice it together with deadly stealth gameplay pioneered by the likes of Metal Gear Solid and Splinter Cell. It became a certified hit, and sprouted sequels that improved on the foundations and started an epic saga that garnered a great fanbase and following that remains intact to this day. Flash forward some five years later, and the Assassin’s Creed saga has sprawled into a lucrative franchise that recently saw its third main installment released with Assassin’s Creed III. To acknowledge this milestone as well as to get four million fans on their Facebook page, Ubisoft  celebrated the entire AC saga as a whole and gave back to the community that has supported the franchise consistently. The official website has a newsletter up with the developers thanking the community for the dedication and loyalty. Additionally, an Assassin’s Creed fan kit is available for download – with extras and content that commemorate the six core game installments that have given players a sense of adventure along with accurate accounts of periods in history. On its fifth anniversary day, Ubisoft augmented their existing timeline on their official Assassin’s Creed Facebook page, with events and coverage of milestone happenings.   They encouraged fan participation as well, promising secrets to be unveiled each time they came back. In addition, the game’s official YouTube page was decked out with more documentaries and videos for fans to explore. It’s a good time to be inducted into the League of Assassins. So rejoice and celebrate five years of Assassin’s Creed! — DVM, GMA News
