Palasyo: Serbisyo sa Cebu capitol, tuloy sa kabila ng pagmamatigas ni Garcia

Iginiit ng Malacañang nitong Miyerkules na patuloy pa rin ang maayos operasyon ng kapitolyo ng Cebu kahit ayaw pa ring bumaba sa puwesto ni Governor Gwendolyn Garcia sinuspinde kamakailan. “The business of governance is ongoing. It remains unhampered. The services to the people of Cebu continue,” ayon kay Presidential spokesman Edwin Lacierda sa isang briefing sa Malacañang. “Notwithstanding the [fact] that Governor Garcia [is] being holed up in the capitol, the business of government is being run efficiently by Acting Governor (Agnes) Magpale,” dagdag pa niya. Ayon kay Lacierda, sa simula ayaw pa umano sumunod sa utos ni Magpale ang ilang mga tauhan ng kapitolyo, pero sa ngayon maayos na ang kalakaran sa mga tanggapan sa pamumuno ng vice governor. “I’m not familiar with all the procedures there. But there is a suspension order and the DILG [Department of Interior and Local Government] has already designated the vice governor as OIC. And, therefore, all legal orders should emanate and all approval of expenditures should emanate from the office of Acting Governor Magpale,” ayon kay Lacierda. Inamin naman ni Lacierda na hindi pa gumawa ang Malacañang ng hakbang kaugnay sa pagmamatigas ni Garcia.   “As to how we will handle the standoff, let me beg off and we will just wait for the New Year to pass. I really am not familiar with what actions will be taken,” ayon sa kanya. Ang anim na buwang suspensyon ka kay Garcia ay nag-ugat sa isang kasong administratibo na isinampa laban sa kanya noong 2010 ni yumaong Vice Governor Gregorio Sanchez Jr. Pinaratangan si Garcia ng usurpation of power dahil umano sa pag-hire niya ng mga kawani, consultants at ang pagtapyas sa pondo ng tanggapan ng Vice Governor. — LBG, GMA News
