After enjoying success among users of iPhones and iPads on its first week, the hit game "Temple Run 2" was released this week for users of devices running Google's Android.

Imangi Studios is letting Android users in on the fun by making the game available from the Google Play store, tech site The Next Web reported Thursday.

“The iOS launch numbers blew us away and I think we’ll definitely see some exciting numbers on Android as well,” co-founder Keith Shepherd told The Next Web via email.

“We’re just happy to have the launch much closer together for Temple Run 2 than on the original. We definitely have a lot of fans on Android, so we didn’t want them to have to wait to get their hands on the sequel. It’s as close to a simultaneous launch as we’ve ever been able to do,” he added.

The sequel went live in the United States on Thursday and is expected to propagate worldwide quickly, The Next Web said.

According to The Next Web, the sequel has the main characters run across all kinds of landscapes as they flee the dreadful temple beasts.

Players use swipe-based commands to jump, slide, turn and move out of the way of objects.

Earlier this week, Imangi said the iOS version got an impressive 20 million downloads four days after its release.

"The original Temple Run was first released for iOS only in 2011, but the Android version followed last year and saw 1 million downloads over just three days," The Next Web noted.  — ELR, GMA News
