Backed up by their big man from down under, the Golden State Warriors surged to a 114-102 win over the Toronto Raptors, with the former on the road, 114-102, Monday (Tuesday, PHL time). [Related: Bogut makes his return, will start for Golden State Warriors, versus Toronto Raptors] The game marked the return of center Andrew Bogut, acquired by the Warriors prior to the trade deadline last season. Despite missing 38 games in the 2012-13 season, the 7'0" center produced 12 points, eight rebounds, two assists, a steal and four blocks in just 23 minutes of play, enough to help the Warriors improve their record to 27-17. That kept them in step with the fourth-seeded Memphis Grizzlies in the Western Conference, who also won, beating the Philadelphia 76ers. After a tied ball game at the break, 52-all, the Warriors used an 11-2 run to go up by 10, 71-61, following a split at the line by rookie Harrison Barnes, 6:18 left in the third. Three straight turnovers though allowed the Raptors to first tie the game at 75-all, via a Terrence Ross lay-up, and then take the lead anew on a DeMar DeRozan jumper, a play later. Five unanswered by Jarret Jack put the Warriors up by the same amount, but Jose Calderon canned a triple with barely two seconds left, for an 84-82 Warriors lead with a quarter remaining. The final period saw the Warriors go on a 12-3 run, holding the Raptors to just a triple by reserve guard John Lucas III for nearly seven minutes, 96-85. An Amir Johnson hook would be Toronto's second field goal of the period, 5:10 remaining, but twin jumpers by Jarret Jack gave GSW a 13-point advantage. It was Terrence Ross' turn to hit back-to-back makes, bringing the Raptors' deficit down to eight, 100-92, 2:51 to play, but Klay Thompson countered with a booming triple. Three straight Warriors slams kept their lead at 11, 109-98, with under a minute to go, before free throws by Jack closed out the game. All five Golden State starters finished with double-digit scoring, led by David Lee's double-double of 21 points and 12 rebounds. He also compiled seven assists. Klay Thompson added 19, while Stephen Curry had 17 points and five assists, before leaving late in the third quarter, apparently re-injuring his right ankle. Curry did not return to the game. Aaron Gray had a career outing, 22 points and 10 rebounds on 9-of-12 shooting, while DeMar DeRozan added 21 points and nine assists, but it was not enough to carry the home team to a win. The Warriors were simply hotter from the field, making 53.5 percent of their shots, 40 percent from downtown, while their defense held the Raps to 43.7 percent shooting, 31.6 percent on triples. - AMD, GMA News
