GMA Kapuso Foundation (GMAKF) continues to respond to the pressing needs of calamity victims in various parts of Davao Oriental and Compostella Valley.

Last January 29 and 30, GMAKF distributed roofing materials to 432 households in chosen barangays in the said provinces, as a first step towards helping them rebuild their homes.

This brings the total number of individuals that were served by the Foundation to 104,605 including those that were earlier provided with potable water, ready-to-eat food, clothes, blankets, hygiene packs, and cleaning materials.

The team also distributed school supplies and conducted medical missions in communities affected by the typhoon. Relief operations are also still ongoing in Davao to aid the victims of the recent floods.

As a long term goal, the socio-civic arm of GMA is currently in talks with the Department of Education and the local government of Davao Oriental on a possible school-building project.

“Last year, we’ve completed the turnover of classrooms in Iligan, which forms part of our long-term rehabilitation efforts for Sendong victims,” said GMAKF EVP and COO Mel C. Tiangco. “We hope to extend the same assistance to the victims of Pablo through the long-standing Kapuso School Rehabilitation project.”
Relief operations are ongoing in Davao to aid the victims of the recent floods.
As of December 31, 2012, GMAKF already received P34,853,166.87 worth of monetary donations, and P8,485,911.29 worth of donations in kind.
