BIR files charges vs 2 flower shops for not issuing registered receipts
The Bureau of Internal Revenue has filed separate criminal complaints with the Department of Justice against two Makati flower shops for failing to issue registered receipts. According to the BIR, it covertly surveilled and conducted operations against Flowers by Sylvia. Two of its investigators pretended to be customers, with each buying flowers on separate occasions. Each of the buyers was not given an official receipt but instead was issued an unregistered provisional receipt that did not conform to the invoicing requirements under the Tax Code. The investigators then confiscated the shop's Invoice Booklet No. 19, Delivery Receipt Booklet No. 40 and Provisional Receipt Booklet No. 195, with the latter two being found not to be registered with the BIR. The case against Flowers by Silvia owner Sylvia Pimentel was the 151st filed under the BIR's Run After Tax Evaders (RATE) program. A similar surveillance operation was conducted on Casa Flores, which was also found not to issue buyers official receipts. — BM, GMA News
